Accounts Receivable Leader (Direct Bill)

Job Description

USLI, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Leader to join our Accounting team. 

Oversee the workflow and performance of a team responsible for:
  • Posting daily cash receipts on directly billed insurance policies
  • Researching and resolving cash posting discrepancies
  • Ensuring timely and accurate refunds to policyholders, agents and brokers?Servicing customer inquiries
  • Providing a high level of customer service
Review and post Direct Bill payments to the accounting system
  • Review over-payments daily to confirm refund accuracy
  • Assist in Direct Bill online decisioning process through the M&T Bank website
  • Verify that bimonthly refunds to insureds as well as bimonthly commission or fee payments to customers have been issued
  • Balance cash by coordinating open items in the accounts receivable and accounts payable subsystems
  • Supervise payment discrepancy resolutions daily
  • Contact underwriting teams for appropriate endorsement issuance or correct our billing through the Data Entry team
  • Contact policyholders for replacement funds on payments returned by the bank
  • Oversee the over-45-day Direct Bill report to ensure accuracy of a balance being moved into further collections proceedings
  • Lead performance and compensation reviews, development planning, recruiting and interviewing
  • Ensure team members respond to voicemail and email messages the same day they receive them
  • Coach and develop team members
  • Maintain attendance records
  • Serve as a job-specific resource
  • Assist with various annual statement responsibilities as needed
  • Cover for other Accounts Receivable Leaders in their absence

Requisite knowledge, skills and experience
  • At least five years of business experience inclusive of leadership responsibilities
  • Accounts receivable and/or accounts payable experience preferred
  • Property and casualty insurance experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
  • QuickBooks proficiency
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Organized and detail-oriented
