Job Description

A++ AM Best rated insurance company headquartered in Wayne, PA is seeking a Business Development Associate for IA, KS, MO, ND, NE, and SD.  This is an entry level position. 

The Business Development Associate will be based in Kansas City and be responsible for generating new retail customer opportunities and driving new business activity from assigned retail customers in their region.  To successfully accomplish these goals, the selected candidate must establish relationships with clients, communicate company goals and objectives, meet with underwriting teams on strategy / tactics and serve as an evaluator of company’s competitiveness in the marketplace in order to communicate strengths and weaknesses to the underwriting team.  The successful candidate will utilize a variety of development techniques including calling and visiting prospective retail customers in assigned region, reacting to prospective customer requests that come in to our company in a timely manner, execution of Retail Agency Appointment Process and organizing customer events as needed. 

Minimum requirements:  Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and commitment to staying knowledgeable about the insurance climate as demonstrated by enrolling and passing insurance designations and coursework, including actively working toward completion of CPCU and RPLU, as well as being cross-trained in at least one of our Underwriting areas each year. Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred.  Qualified candidates for this position must be self-starters who demonstrate the following traits:  Good oral and written communications skills; detail oriented with strong organizational skills; excellent attendance record; a history of personal and business development and the ability to demonstrate proactivity working both independently and as a part of a team in a fast paced environment.

This position would be considered for relocation if a Business Development Manager position becomes available in the future.
