Job Description

Seeking good business people looking to make an impact!

This position requires you to be on-site in our office in Wayne, PA office at least four days per week.

This role assumes the responsibility of Underwriting and Underwriting Services which includes underwriting submissions in accordance with delegated underwriting authority and established guidelines. Underwriter will interact with Claim, Accounting, Operations, Underwriting Audit, Loss Control and Administration Departments as necessary.  Daily activity requires processing customer requests for quotes, re-quotes, endorsements and other miscellaneous items within service promise standards. Underwriter must maintain productivity at or above a level consistent with other underwriters on the team, and at a level that allows the team to meet our service promises.  This role requires Marketing and potential travel in order to create and maintain positive relationships with assigned customers, identify opportunities, and drive more business into customer’s offices via effective visits and seminars.  It is equally as important to be able to effectively tell the Company and Team Story to Customers and fellow Community Members. Potential travel to assigned customers and territories, as directed by leadership. Further responsibilities include maintaining technical competency; perform research, gather competitive information, identify new products and opportunities for the team’s products.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • At least three years prior underwriting experience in Commercial Property & Casualty, Personal or Management & Professional Liability lines,

    OR

  • At least five years prior business experience. Successful candidates have had prior business experience in the following industries:
  1. Non-underwriting insurance experience, such as sales, claims handling
  2. Financial services, such as banking, mortgage underwriting, financial consulting, asset management, business analyst
  3. Legal services, such as attorney, paralegal

Underwriters are responsible for the selection and pricing of new business risks in accordance with company underwriting guidelines and service promises in addition to developing and maintaining relationships with customers in order to drive submissions and achieve company goals. The successful candidate must embrace our underwriting model, exhibit critical thinking in all facets of the role and be able to articulate our products and value proposition to customers, as well as train and coach other underwriters as needed.
